Building First Nations research leadership
A strong pipeline of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health researchers is essential to community-controlled research. The Mobi Health Portal offers scholarship programs at undergraduate, honours, masters, and doctoral levels — providing financial support, mentoring, and connection to a national network of First Nations health researchers.
Our scholarships are open to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students enrolled in health-related disciplines, including public health, medicine, nursing, midwifery, allied health, and health sciences.
Available programs
- Doctoral Scholarship — full-time support for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander candidates undertaking doctoral research in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health. Includes stipend, research costs, and access to mentoring from senior First Nations researchers.
- Masters Research Scholarship — support for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students completing a masters by research in a health-related field, with a focus on community-controlled research methodologies.
- Honours Scholarship — funding for honours-year students to undertake research projects aligned with Mobi Health Portal priority areas, with supervision from experienced First Nations researchers.
- Professional Development Scholarship — short-term funding for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health professionals to undertake research training, attend conferences, or complete specialised courses.

Scholarship rounds are announced through our news page and newsletter. Applications typically require a research proposal, academic transcripts, references, and confirmation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander identity. Priority is given to research aligned with community health priorities and Mobi Health Portal strategic areas.
